The Japanese martial art of Aikido is a peaceful discipline of self-defense. Training includes stretching, instruction in safe rolling and falling, joint-lock and throwing techniques, as well as breathing and meditation exercises. Aikido is suitable for men, women, and children of all ages, as the techniques do not rely on strength, but rather on the ability to use an attackers balance and energy to create a defense. Families are welcome to train together! Aikido of Northern Utah, founded at the Whittier Community Center in 1993, has expanded to two locations.
